To the early women

We are the early women.

The ones who sit silently at the lab for bloodwork before rush hour.

The ones who wait next for ultrasounds.

We follow each other in a quiet solidarity.

I want to reach out — to ask, how is it for you? How are you managing?

is it sadness or excitement or resolution I see in your eyes, that brief moment I look.
